Heart and Lungs and Decision Making

Hello, today in kaupapa matua, we have been filling out some sheets about the effects of smoking to your heart and lungs. We also did some decision making.

A few things today I have learnt is that your heart will beat 115,00 times a day and it pumps about 2000 gallons of blood a day. Another fact is that your right lung has 3 lobes but your left only has 2 and that you breathe 13 pints of air a day per minute.

The effects of smoking can really damage a person. Especially their lungs. The effects of smoking to your heart and lungs I have found is that: You can get coronary heart disease, you could have a heart attack, Arrhythmia, Less airflow, more mucus and infections, and fewer cilia.

The next sheet is decision making.

There were four scenarios that I had to fill out and had to draw pictures with them. One of them is: You’d paid a lot of money to sit in the grandstand at a sports event, when the person sitting next to you lights up a cigarette. My answer was honestly a bit silly but I was being honest. My answer to that was: I would tell them to stop but if they do not stop I ‘ll snatch it from them and squash it on the ground. After that I’ll move away.

Here are some pictures of my work 😀

Peer Pressure

This week we have been learning about what peer pressure is.

Peer pressure is when someone is using words to make someone else do something they may or may not want to do. A negative example of pressure is: Your friend hasn’t done their homework and they ask if they can copy your work. They then say that if you let them, you’ll be a good friend.

A positive example of peer pressure is:  You and your sibling are playing around and then knocks over a vase and it smashes on the ground. You think about hiding it but then your sibling tells you to tell the truth to your mum. So then you tell the truth.

Thank you for reading my blog 🙂
